Napizole is a treatment and prevention of gastroesophageal reflux disease, healing of gastric ulcers, prevention of ulcers resulting from the use of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, treatment of Helicobacter pylori infection, and treatment of Zollinger-Ellison syndrome.
Napizole belongs to a group of drugs known as proton pump inhibitors (PPIs). This drug works by permanently disabling the proton pump (H+/K+ ATPase) in the cells of the stomach wall, which leads to a reduction in the secretion of stomach acid. This effect helps relieve symptoms related to conditions such as gastroesophageal reflux and gastric ulcers, and promotes the healing of the esophageal and stomach wall.
